Located at the east of Pearl River estuary and only 20 nautical miles from Hong Kong, Chiwan Container Terminal (“CCT”) is the Gateway that connects the world with Pan Pearl River Delta hinterland. CCT is a sino-foreign joint venture company invested by Chiwan Wharf Holdings Limited、Kerry Properties (HK) Limited、China Merchants Holdings (International) Co.,Ltd and Modern Terminal Limited (Modern Terminals).

Being one of the three container terminals in Shenzhen port, during the past 15 years, CCT has acquired an international recognition in terminal management and state-of-the-art facilities. CCT operates 9 container berths with the total length of 3100m, and a yearly handling capacity of 6.2 million Teus. The new Triple-lift Quayside cranes, equipped with three spreaders capable of lifting three 40ft (of six empties) containers simultaneously, will greatly enhance CCT’s productivity in offering 24 hours/day 7days/week exceptional terminal services.

With the stable development of China’s Economy and business partners’ long-term supports, CCT is one of the most important terminals in Southern China. More than 60 weekly shipping services connect the terminal to all the major economic regions of the world. In 2006, CCT handled over 5,000,000TEU.

Backed up by the Group, CCT provides a full range of logistics services for customers, such as Customs declaration of inbound and outbound cargos and domestic transshipment customs declaration services etc; bonded warehouse service; truck service, tugboat service, barge service, cargo agency and other related services. The existing Pearl River Delta network and “South China Shuttle Services”, have created an unprecedented opportunity for CCT to establish the unique “PRD Waterway Transport Network” extending efficient, cost competitive and environmentally friendly channel of transportation to shipping lines, and import/exporters.

Together with partner company, the South China Shuttle (Pearl River Delta Shuttle) has been inaugurated by CCT to link up the major cities and ports of hinterland with Chiwan, like Zhuhai、Zhongshan、Shunde、Jiangmen、Foshan、Nanhai、Huangpu、Panyu、Zhaoqing、Maoming、Zhanjing、Fangcheng and Beihai. It covers the whole PRD and western Guangdong coastal area, cargos can be shipped from the PRD and adjacent areas to CCT more safely and efficiently for transshipment to the world, providing the comprehensive and effective logistics services for the customers.

With the help of scientific technology, Shekou Customs, Shekou Inspection & Quarantine Bureau, Shekou Boundary Inspection Bureau and other port administrative authorities have built up the electronic clearance mechanism and initiated a series of reforms. These finally help to build up the Western Shenzhen Electronic Platform for custom clearance and improve the overall clearance environment of West Shenzhen. Shekou Customs implemented the “one-stop-Shop” declaration service at Shekou Customs Declaration Center, Western Electronic Declaration, Tax-payment via the Electronic Platform…etc and other effective formalities. Shekou CIQ implemented CIQ2000 Comprehensive Management System, Electronic Declaration, Visa and booking Transfer(Three Electronic Projects). And carried out the Ship’s Tele-communication Inspection and Harbor Inspection/Quarantine Express Services. Shekou Boundary Inspection Bureau implemented pre-inspection for container vessels.

In complementing container services, Qian Hai Wan Logistics Park occupying 305 sq.km., provides warehousing, consolidation and bounded processing. This congregation of warehouse attracts many multinational cargo-owners to the logistics park, due to offering proximal interaction between the bounded logistics center and the terminals.
