On July 4th, in order to respond to the national suggestion to increase energy-saving, carbon emission reduction and environment protection, as well as to provide a convenient green passage and a public and economical platform to carriers and customers, “Changsha-Shenzhen CCT/SCT Sea-Rail Intermodal Promotion Seminar” was held at Changsha Xiaoxiang Huatian Hotel. The seminar was hosted by China Merchants Holdings (International) Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Municipal Communication Bureau, China Railway Container Transportation Co., Ltd., Changsha Municipal Communication Bureau and Changsha Municipal Trade Bureau. The aim of the event was to further promote the business development of sea-rail transport in Pan-Pearl River Delta Region.
Bulk transport, ability to span long distances, cost reduction and overall comprehensiveness of transportation are all characteristics of rail transport. Sea-rail transport is an important part of the logistics chain, in particular of the modern logistics and multi-mode transportation system. With the changing China economy and global economy structural adjustment, the ratio of sea-rail transport in China is expected to be increased year by year. This mode of transport does not only fit with the principles of energy saving, waste minimization and environmental protection, but also serves as a convenient, safe and reliable transport tool to get over the bottleneck for the client group in mainland with a relatively low logistics cost, so as to enjoy the various value-added services and benefits brought by Shenzhen Bay Port. In the recent years, with the promotion of the integration of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan into 2-model society and the persistent economic development of Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, Changsha has played a vitally important role. Sea-rail transport between Changsha and Shenzhen has built a channel connecting the central part to the eastern part, thereby getting through the bottleneck. Integrated with the northern coastal region are inherent advantages that are motivated by regional economic development. Due to this a more efficient, effective and convenient green channel can be provided to the corporations in Pan-Pearl River Delta Region. Both micro and macro economies drive the demand and provide the relevant and necessary conditions for the development of sea-rail transport. All the parties involved in the business of sea-rail transport will make contributions and derive benefits from it.
