On 10th of December, 2008, 2 mega vessels called at CCT through Tonggua Channel, and these 2 mega vessel were by far the largest vessels passing through Tonggu channel.
Both these vessels are under the name of MSC, which are MSC RANIA and MSC MAEVA with LOA of 332m and 324.8m, posses over 8000 TEU of capacity. The local authorities supervised all technical procurements and well coordinated so as to make sure of the safe channel passage. With proper guidance of 4 pilots and 3 tug boats, under cautious piloting, MSC RANIA successfully berth at 13:40, and MSC MAEVA Berthed at 18:30.
The successful passages via Tonggua channel have become the significant symbol which has shown the continuous improvement of navigation environment of Western Port of Shenzhen.
