Eight measures finalized based on early research and investigation since April 13, 2009, among which, below measures are focused on Tonggu Channel:
- Tonggu Channel issues to be brought into the category of routine management so as to enhance the level of safe passage procurement and organized supervision, and provide necessary free channel clearance and pilot age.
- Vessels under class 80,000 tonnes go through routine arrival & departure procedures. Vessel with tonnage of over 80,000 apply only one session of preparation & discussion over the same type of vessel, which means vessels with the same type and the level of tonnage shall be preapproved for Tonggu Channel passage. In addition, vessels over 100,000 tonnes are no longer required to go through session by each individual.
- Vessels with capacity over 80,000 tonnes require convoy of tug-boats, which can be arranged by carriers.
- With proper guidance of navigational marks, vessels under 50,000 tonnes are allowed to use Tonggu Channel at night time.
- Optimize the planning of vessel arrival & departure arrangement, enhance corporation with VTS Guangzhou in order to ensure safe & efficient passage.
- Fully support the construction of Tonggu Channel 2nd Phase.
These means will not only encourage CCT to stand against all the impacts of global financial crisis, but also created a positive image to carriers.
