On April 25th 2016, Hamburg Süd celebrated the christening of MV CAP SAN JUAN at China Merchants Western Shenzhen Terminals (CCT). The ceremony was attended by approximately 300 guests including Dr. Heino Schmidt, member of the Executive Board of Hamburg Süd; Erik Yim, Chief Commercial Officer of China Merchants Holdings (International); Qu Jiandong, Managing Director of Chiwan Container Terminal; Michael Liu, General Manager of Group Marketing and Commercial Department of China Merchants Holdings (International).
Being the largest vessel of Hamburg Süd, MV CAP SAN JUAN, measuring 331 meters long with designed capacity as 10600 TEU, will be deployed to Hamburg Süd's South American service which will be calling at CCT every Wednesday. This service follows a port rotation of Shanghai – Ningbo – Chiwan– Hong Kong – Singapore– Port Kelang– Santos– Paranagua – Buenos Aires – Montevideo – Rio Grande – Itapoa – Durban.
