Located at the Pearl River estuary, CCT/SCT are tightly connected with the well-known World Factory-the vast Pearl River Delta economic hinterland. By right of this privileged location, in 2001, CCT/SCT had jointly initiated the PRD Shuttle services shuttling between Western Shenzhen Ports and main river ports alongside the Pearl River Delta areas, aimed at providing the local users and liner companies a more convenient and cost-effective express way. In 2003, in order to comply with the fast development of the shuttle services, which had been already extended beyond the Pearl River Delta economic hinterland into some South China costal ports, PRD Shuttle service was accordingly renamed to South China Shuttle service.
